Rembrandt Bugatti (1884–1916), after, bronze sculpture of a walking leopard finished in black patina. Signed on the base. Known for his expressive animal studies, Bugatti was born in Milan into a family of artists that included his uncle Giovanni Segantini and his brother Ettore Bugatti.
Rembrandt Bugatti was born into a family of artists—son of designer Carlo Bugatti, brother of automaker Ettore Bugatti, and nephew of painter Giovanni Segantini. He began sculpting animal forms at age 14 and exhibited widely, including at the Salon d’Automne. In 1907, he moved to Antwerp to study live animals, leading to the creation of his most emotive and observational bronzes.
