Gustave Hervigo (1896–1993) was a French painter born in Rambouillet, where he also died. Active in Paris from the 1920s, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and later was named an official Painter of the French Navy. After the war, extensive travel—particularly in Africa—became central to his work, and he developed a reputation for expressive landscapes and scenes observed in places such as Chad, Gabon, and the Congo.
(Presents well overall. Surface shows light age-related wear with minor scattered abrasions, small marks, and a few areas of thinness visible under close inspection. Edges show minor wear from handling and framing, and the unframed canvas has light wear along the perimeter.
