18th century Spanish colonial silver dish.This large bowl of almost pure silver designed with a scalloped rim, repousse scroll and shell decorations and shell feet, unmarked, 46.65 oz. T., 11 x 20-1/2 x 17 in. Note: This item descended in the family of Manuel Ortiz de Zevallos y Garc¡a, a Peruvian lawyer, diplomat, and politician. Manuel Ortiz de Zevallos was married to Josefa de Tagle and Echevarr¡a, the daughter of Jos‚ Bernardo de Tagle y Portocarrero, the IV Marquis of Torre Tagle and President of Peru from 1823-1824.The Tagle family is one of Spain’s prominent aristocratic families, going as far back as the 14th century.
