Antoine-Louis Barye, "The Lioness at rest", Bronze with brown patina. Signed and with
Foundry stamp On a black marble base. This is a bronze sculpture of a reclining panther, by the French artist Antoine-Louis Barye. The sculpture is part of the Animalier movement, which focused on realistic portrayals of animals of which Barye was the most prominent and sought after.
Measurements: 5 1/2 x 10 x 5 in. (14 x 25.4 x 12.7 cm.) approx
