Albert Ruben (1918-2012) oil on canvas, Still Life with onion, potato, pot and jug, Rockport Mass Ruben had numerous one man shows in New York City, New Jersey, Boston and Rockport. He was a member of Allied Artists of America; Copley Society of Artists, Salmagundi Club, New York City; Life Member Arts Students’ League of New York City, and a longtime member of the Rockport Art Association. They include: Award of Merit, International Art Exhibition, Florida; Memorial Gold Medal, American Art Society, New York City; David Knapp Memorial Award, American Art Society, New York City; Award of Merit, Ross Gallery National Exhibition, New Jersey; Artist’s Prize, Best Painting in Oils (twice), Popular Prize (twice), Gold Medal (twice), Best Portrait (twice), Rockport Art Association; Best New Artist, Johnson Prize and Memorial Prize, North Shore Art Association.
