Bronze schoolgirl after Edgar Degas, from Nelson Rockefeller collection. Measures 10.25"H. The 1978 article by Sarah Booth Conroy of the Washington Post basically sums it up: ‘After a lifetime of buying art, former vice president Nelson Rockfeller is now selling it-with all the money, energy and enthusiasm he once put into building his collection. His latest enterprises include: "The Nelson Rockefeller Collection, "a select group of reproductions of art objects he plans to have reproduced on a yearly editioned basis from the originals he owns. Hugh Morrow, his spokesman, said by telephone from New York, "He could …lose a lot of money on this venture.". Rockefeller would die of a heart attack a year later in 1979 and the project was cancelled. this piece overall good condition
