Description
Charles Catteau art deco ceramic enamled vase.Charles Catteau Born at Douai, Charles Catteau trained at the National Ceramics School in Sèvres. In 1904, Catteau was hired by the German Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory, near Munich. In December 1906 he moved to La Louvière and started to work for Boch Frères Keramis. In 1907 he was appointed head of the Decoration Department and Workshop of Imaginative Design, where he created some of the most iconic designs in art deco ceramics and remained in that position until 1948. His works are highly sought after by collectors. The vase drilled for lampmaking purposes was created circa 1920 and stands 11" in height.
