Lot 227:
Description
Marc Miller signed archival giclee botanical series photographic print of a tulip printed on canvas circa 1990 21" x 17" Outsider photographer Marc Miller has been a known figure on the periphery of the fine and decorative arts world for over half a century. Despite rejecting the commercial gallery representation, his works have found their way into a number of private collections, public institutions in the United and abroad. For a retrospective exhibition of his work, curator and noted author and photo-journalist, Doug Menuez wrote…”Often we choose a path in life because we are recommended to do so….when I look at Marc’s photographs I glimpse fractions of lost memories, broken bits of old dreams and the strong feeling of dejà vu washes over me. I’ve seen this work somewhere and nowhere. I relate to it like an old friend. It comforts and it intrigues. ..Marc intuits the collective unconscious and that is what I am recognizing. It seems that the search for beauty and the profound mystery of our world is what drives Marc to make photographs… and that is all to our benefit..”.
