Description
Asian Chinese antique 6 panel Calligraphy decorated screen early 20th century 78"h x 108"w ..The following is a rough translation: It’s called Yue Yang Lou Ji or Memorial to the Yue Yang Tower, it’s an essay written in 1046 by a guy who was demoted from central government to provincial government (wrongfully in his opinion). The bulk of the essay is just praising the natural scenery, but in the end he makes a brief exclamation on how difficult it was to govern (“Being high in the courts and you worry about the people, being away in the country and you worry about the monarch” & “one must worry oneself before the rest of the world worries, and enjoy oneself after the rest of the world can enjoy”)
