Description
Louis Icart (French, 1888–1950). Original pencil and watercolor on paper depicting a standing female figure with cat. Signed lower right. Nicely framed with double mats. Louis Icarts’ work depicts fashionable women in an erotic and sometimes humorous fashion within the setting of Parisian and New York life during the art deco period from the 1920’s to the 1930’s. After serving as a pilot in World War I, he moved to Paris to concentrate on his work and produced a series of prints, aquatints and drypoints, for both the European and American markets. His work was featured in fashion publications and design studios both in the US and abroad. Provenance: A private New Jersey collection. Dimensions: Sight – 17" high x 10 1/4" wide. Frame: 23 3/4" high x 17" wide. Condition: Not examined out of frame, though presents as very good. Frame in very good condition.
