Description

Kazimir Malevich (Ukranian, 1879 – 1935). Sportsmen sculpture for the Guggenheim Museum, modeled after the original. Painted paper mache. Marked Guggenheim Museum 1996 SRGF to underside of base. Kazimir Severinovich Malevich was a Polish-Ukrainian Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist, whose pioneering work and writing had a profound influence on the development of non-objective art and post modernism in the 20th century. Inspired by The Sportsmen painting and sketches, these hand painted figurines are as bold and colorful today as when they were conceived at the dawn of the abstract Modernist movement commencing the twentieth century. Rendered in three dimensions, their simplified color block formation holds up, creating an arresting sculpture piece for any environment. Dimensions: 19 1/4" high x 4" square at base. Condition: Very good, with very minor losses of paint to the bottom edge of the base.

Condition: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Complete condition information is available by request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and COLLECTive Hudson will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. Colors may render differently on different viewing devices. COLLECTive Hudson does not provide any shipping or packing services. We happily provide a list of recommended shippers who can provide shipping quotes prior to bidding
