Pair of Post-Modern Swid Powell marked silverplated brass candlesticks of substantial weight, designed by architect Richard Meier. Marked to underside of base: RM/ Swid Powell / Made in Italy/silverplated. Founded in 1982 by Nan Swid and Addie Powell, the company produced innovative housewares designed by leading designers. In 1984 the first Swid Powell collection of porcelain dinnerware, silverware, and glass was launched, proving highly commercial in designâ€conscious retail outlets. Those designing for Swid Powell included many of the celebrity names associated with international design, such as Arata Isosaki, Ettore Sottsass, Zaha Hadid, George Sowden, Richard Meier, Robert Venturi, David Palterer and Michael Graves. Dimensions: 9" high x 3 1/2" diameter at base. Condition: Very good.
