Description
Olive Kooken, Art Deco/Modernist Bronze Table Lamp
Olive Kooken (American, 1904-1964 ). Art deco-influenced bronze one-light lamp having textured body with two leaf form handles, circa 1940’s. Unsigned.
Kooken attended the art students league in new york city from 1927-1928. She was a freelance sculptor working for both the barclay manufacturing co. and national metalizing company, nyc, which became known as the amor bronze company. She sculpted lamps, jewelry, trophies, statues, as well as beaut manufacturing’s toys, and modeled approximately half of the black model Id planes produced by the design center of new york in 1942-43 for the armed services, as well as the general public. She also executed a sculpture in miniature for new york’s museum of modern art from its sculpture garden.
12 1/2: high to top of socket. 6" diameter at widest point.
Condition: Very good, no losses, with original patina. Wiring has not been tested and will likely require updating.
