Hector Guimard, French Art Nouveau Period Chandelier

Truly rare and exceptional Hector Guimard (French, 1867-1942) chandelier. art nouveau period nickel-plated chandelier having four lights. Cast foliate & scroll arm design frame, arms terminating in tendrils supporting clear glass rod-form prisms and blue oval glass panels.

French architect and designer, Guimard achieved early fame with his design for the Castel Beranger, the first art nouveau apartment building in paris, which was selected in an 1899 competition as one of the best new building facades in the city. He is best known for the glass and iron edicules, or canopies, with ornamental curves, which he designed to cover the entrances of the first stations of the Paris Metro. Between 1890 and 1930, Guimard designed and built some fifty buildings, in addition to one hundred and forty-one subway entrances for the Paris Metro, as well as numerous pieces of furniture and other decorative works.

Frame – Approx. 38" high x 18" diameter. Overall 48" high with prisms. Chain and canopy not included in dimensions.

Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.

COLLECTive Hudson does not provide any shipping or packing services. We will happily provide a list of recommended shippers who can provide shipping quotes prior to bidding. Shippers will also be listed on your invoice.

PAYMENT

All invoices totaling over $5,000 to be paid via wire transfer. All jewelry, watches and silver must be paid via wire. All Credit card transactions are subject to a 3.1% CC FEE. Absolutely no credit card transactions over the phone.

Condition: Good condition. All crystals seem to be presents with no cracks. Lighting has not been tested.
