Mariano Fortuny (Spanish, active Venice, 1871-1949) Cesendello Silk Lamps on a decorated rod, 5 large silk shades, each suspended from a red and gold decorated rod the shades each stamped on frame: "Fortuny by Venetia Stvdivm / Made in Venice / Italy".A cesendello, or sanctuary lamp, has its roots in Rome and Byzantium, and later became popular in Venice and the Muslim world. The profile of this elegant spiral structure recalls the twist of a turban. The refined silhouette represents the synthesis of the Oriental and Renaissance themes present in Venice as early as the 15th century. these fixtures customarily sell for over $10,000

Invaluable: All invoicing over $5,000 must be paid via wire transfer. Overseas Payments are to be made via Wire transfer. Payments for jewelry, watches, and silver must also be made via wire transfer. Live Auctioneers: All Invoicing over $5,000 will be paid through ACH or Wire Transfer. Items will not be released until payments are cleared. Credit card transactions are subject to a 3.1% fee. We do not accept credit card transactions over the phone.
We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Invoices will be sent out on Wednesday morning after the auction. Pick-up is available by appointment only from Wednesday to Sunday, between 11am-4pm.
The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Condition information is available upon request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is, " and COLLECTive Hudson will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting, and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
