Margaret Brassler Kane Signed Bronze Lamp Base from the collection of noted collector and respected gallery owner, Kenneth Dukoff of Niagara Falls, NY
Margaret Brassler Kane Signed Bronze modernist figural Lamp Base "Swimmers" C 1940. this is a good heavy bronze casting with fine patina. stylized modernist work.
Kane studied at Syracuse University, the Art Students League in New York City, and also with sculptor John Hovannes.
Kane created sculptures in stone, wood and plaster at her studio in Manhattan and later at her home in Connecticut. Afterwards, she had various sculptures cast in bronze from the original material. Kane’s marble and wood sculptures and reliefs often depicted contemporary life and the prevailing social conditions, including such subjects as Harlem Dancers, Refugees and Air Raid.
Her work was exhibited in many places in the United States including the 1939 Worlds Fair, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum and the Brooklyn Museum.
Base is approx 9" diam x 19"H. Overall 32"H

Invaluable: All invoicing over $5,000 must be paid via wire transfer. Overseas Payments are to be made via Wire transfer. Payments for jewelry, watches, and silver must also be made via wire transfer. Live Auctioneers: All Invoicing over $5,000 will be paid through ACH or Wire Transfer. Items will not be released until payments are cleared. Credit card transactions are subject to a 3.1% fee. We do not accept credit card transactions over the phone.
We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Invoices will be sent out on Wednesday morning after the auction. Pick-up is available by appointment only from Wednesday to Sunday, between 11am-4pm.
The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Condition information is available upon request, no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is, " and COLLECTive Hudson will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting, and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
