Description
Antique Japanese (possibly Chinese) Gouache scroll painting remounted and framed by Kato Gallery. The painting depicts a monk in a meditative posture holding a vajra in his right hand and prayer beads in his left hand Frame 36.5” x 18” Visible 32.5 x 14.5 not examined out of frame Estate of Regina Doi. Regina Doi lived many lives; from being an opera singer who graduated from Julliard in NY to Tokyo where she founded the Aoba-Japan bilingual school which expanded from 16 to almost 600 students on two campuses. Regina Doi started collecting the Mori’s from the late 60’s through the 90’s.
Condition: some staining in upper right quadrant, but good considering its age
