Fuchs was a sculptor, medallist, painter, and author who worked in vienna, london and new york. He painted portraits of queen victoria and edward vii, and was fashionable among londons high society during the early 20th century. His paintings are primarily portraits, in a style that owes much to John Singer Sargent.

Both his painted and sculpted portraits were immensely fashionable in britain at the turn of the century, and he was taken up by the royal family, modeling a number of medals that were struck for queen victoria, princess alexandra, and a coronation medal for edward vii. He brought to the british medals the soft-edged decorative style then popular in austria, to which he always remained faithful. He also designed the postage stamps of edward vii. Between 1898 and 1902 he showed fourteen works over seven royal academy summer exhibitions. This included busts, figural groups, figurines, medals, and marble and bronze plaquettes. In 1898, he exhibited marble busts of Lady Alice Montagu and Carl Meyer at the autumn exhibition in the Walker Art Gallery in liverpool.

Collections of his work are held at the american numismatic society, the brooklyn museum, the metropolitan museum of art, the thomas J. watson library, the national academy of design, the cleveland museum of art, and the library of congress, among others.
