Description
Wedgwood Black Basalt Plaque depicting Vulcan the Blacksmith of the Gods
Signed Wedgewood Antique Basalt ceramic bas-relief plaque depicting Vulcan, the blacksmith of the gods, making a shield for Aeneas for use in leading the trojans into battle, as described in the Aeneid by Virgil. Mounted in a newer gilt frame having a wood panel backing with a window opening showing wedgwood impressed mark.

Sight – 6" high x 9 1/2" wide. Frame – 8 7/8" high x 12 1/2" wide.
Condition: Not examined out of frame, though it presents as very good. Minor abrasions to frame.
