Signed Benn and attributed to Ben Benn (Ukranian/American, 1884-1983). ‘Dinner Flowers’. Oil Painting on canvas, circa 1963. Signed lower right, Benn ’63, with title and date on verso.

Benn was born Benjamin Rosenberg in the town of kamenets, podolsk in 1884. The rosenberg family chose to immigrate to the United States in 1894 or 1899. Between 1904 and 1908 he attended the national academy of design. He participated in the forum exhibition in 1916, as well as the first annual exhibition of the society of independent artists in 1917. His first solo exhibition was held in 1925 at j.b. newmann’s new art circle gallery. He had many solo exhibitions during his lifetime, including one at the jewish museum in 1965. His works are in the collections of many museums, including the metropolitan museum of art, the whitney, and hirshhorn museum.

Canvas – 24" high x 18" wide. Frame – 30 1/4" high x 24 1/2" wide.

Condition: Very good. Frame is original to the painting, with wear commensurate with age.
