Virginia’s aesthetic is heavily influenced by the early 20th century decorative arts. She often deconstructs and distills elements from nature and fits them into geometries that are at once both fanciful and practical, but never utilitarian. After earning her B.A. in russian from new york university, she studied woodworking at the center for furniture craftsmanship in rockport, maine. The artist creates beautifully executed, commissioned studio furniture as well as decorative boxes. This screen is the first piece she made following her fellowship there and it is featured on her website.
