Herter Brothers American Inlaid, Marble Top and Carved Renaissance Revival Tall Chest
Herter Brothers: An exquisite American Victorian Renaissance Revival Chest of Drawers, dating to the last quarter of the 19th century. This magnificent piece features a Carrara marble top with rounded corners, complemented by intricate carving and inlay work in rosewood and other fine woods. The chest includes two short inlaid and incised frieze drawers above a central paneled cabinet door, flanked by fluted columns that gracefully terminate in bun feet and a secret base drawer. This piece is heavy an very well made. We could not easily examine it thoroughly and we noticed no obvious signature, but this masterpiece is strongly attributed to the Herter Brothers."
