19th-century Russian icon, masterfully crafted in 800 silver repoussé, depicts the Virgin Mary surrounded by fourteen saints, each intricately portrayed within an ornate openwork frame. The use of repoussé, a metalworking technique where the silver is hammered into relief from the reverse side.
