Ancient Roman Gold Earrings with Garnets, Circa 1st to 3rd century AD
This stunning matched pair of gold earrings features a round plaque centered by a sizable garnet framed with a beaded border. These plaques are seamlessly attached to gold ear wires, forming the closure of the earrings. Suspended below are large pendants composed of clusters of hollow gold spheres.
Provenance: Private collection. Previously acquired on the UK art market, part of a pre-2000 London collection.
