Early Medieval Fresco Transferred to Canvas Oil Painting
An antique large wall fresco painting was transferred to canvas to depict a procession of ladies and knights.
The work is a stunning example of the medieval style of wall painting: the painter draws on the models of Gothic courtly-themed decorations widespread in Italy in the thirteenth, fourteenth, and early fifteenth centuries. This work in question may or may not date back to these centuries.
