Atelier René Schmitt Egyptian Revial Floor Lamp, Circa 1940.
The design, attributed to Gilberte Schmitt, René Schmitt’s wife, features a stylized lotus motif. The lamp is constructed from limed oak, with the upper part showcasing a carved and partly polychromed title motif. The lighting bowl is made from antique green patinated metal

René Schmitt, an influential figure, was a cabinet maker and decorator who also held significant political roles, including deputy secretary general of the SFIO, secretary general of the Federation of the Democratic and Socialist Left, mayor of Cherbourg, and a former minister.
