This carved wood panel, dating to the late 17th or early 18th century, is crafted in the manner of Jean Bérain, a prominent French designer and engraver known for his intricate and ornamental style that influenced much of the decorative arts during the Baroque period.
The panel likely depicts St. Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary. The figure is framed by a richly detailed, arched niche, surrounded by elaborate floral and scrollwork carvings that are characteristic of Bérain’s influence.
