18th Century Silver Message Case w. Miniature Painting, Silk Interior. Both sides in silver and vermeil, finely cut, openwork, and chiseled with colonnades, chimeras, monsters, birds, floral motifs, etc. One side is decorated with a miniature, mountain landscape animated with characters. The interior is light red silk with two compartments. Late 18th C. No apparent markings that we could find
Measurement: 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 in. (14 x 7 cm.)
