Cesar Fernandez Navarro (1909-1992) titled "Hora de la siesta." Oil on canvas, 1960, Argentina. The painting depicts a serene, sunlit scene of a woman resting in a harvested field during siesta time, reflecting Navarro’s focus on rural life of the Argentine countryside.
Artist Bio: Cesar Fernandez Navarro completed his primary studies in the country and, shortly after, his family moved to Spain. His artistic training began with Abel Bueno Gros, in Spain, and continued with André Lothe, in Paris. At the age of 25, he returned to Argentina, traveling around painting and exhibiting in different provinces. He settled in Santa Fe, where his friend Juan Mantovani offered him a position as a professor at the School of Visual Arts that was about to be created.
It belonged to a Spanish family from the south of Spain, the work was purchased from the painter on his way to Spain, it is sent perfectly packaged by an International company, it is sold with an original wooden and gilded frame from the time, the interior measurements of the frame are 70x 50.
In 1949, he traveled to Spain, holding exhibitions in Madrid, Bilbao, Zaragoza and Barcelona. After returning to Santa Fe, he took charge of the direction of the Municipal Museum of Visual Arts of Santa Fe and, later, he fulfilled the same function at the head of the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts of Paran?. He was appointed Director of Culture of the Province of Entre R?os and, later, he held the position of director of the Juan Mantovani School of Visual Arts.
