Oil on Panel "Caramel Sunset" Painting signed F.M. Moore Bottom right (Frank Montague Moore), Mid 20th Century. Signed on front/verso and titled on verso
Bio: Frank Montague Moore, born in Taunton, England, on November 24, 1877, studied at the Liverpool Art School and Royal Institute before immigrating to the United States in 1903, where he trained further under Henry Ward Ranger. By 1910, Moore had established himself as an artist in New York City and soon moved to Hawaii, where he eventually became the director of the Honolulu Academy of Arts. In 1928, he traveled to California, briefly working in Pasadena and San Francisco before settling in Carmel. Known for his poetic depictions of the Monterey Peninsula’s coastlines and scenic vistas, Moore remained active in Carmel until his passing on March 5, 1967.
