Andre Lhote was an important French Cubist painter of figure subjects, portraits, landscapes, and still life. He was also active and influential as a teacher and writer on art. This work is known, and was part of the collection of M Frederic Stern a noted collector, which collection was sold in Paris for the benefit of the Pasteur-Weitzman Foundation.
