Belle Epoch store mystery clock cast by Val d’Osne Foundry, late 19th century, based on a model by Mathurin Moreau (1822-1912). This piece features a cast iron store display statue of a girl, which is topped with a large "mysterious" clock.

History: This is the salesroom model 245 offered in the sales catalogue of the Fonderie du Val d’Osne, an art foundry created in 1835 by Jean Pierre Victor Andre, inventor of ornamental iron casting. The company quickly contacted fashionable sculptors to order models from them. From 1849 and for around thirty years, Mathurin Moreau created models of fountains, candelabras and garden statues for the Fonderie du Val d’Osne.
