Dutch East India Company, 18th Century, Chinese export porcelain plates with underglaze blue decoration featuring a central peony medallion surrounded by twin friezes of cross motifs. The base is subtly embellished with slightly raised floral patterns, characteristic of export wares from the period.
These plates exemplify the refined craftsmanship and commercial style produced for European markets during the height of the East India Company trade.
