NO RESERVE Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, signed with initials, French allegorical grisaille painting depicting a dynamic classical scene with intertwined nude figures and putti, rendered in monochromatic tones to emulate sculptural relief. 19th Century
Executed in grisaille on canvas and set within an oval giltwood frame with ribbon crest. The reverse bears a period printed illustration and French-language text referencing Carpeaux, suggesting the work was conceived as an academic study or decorative interpretation inspired by his sculpture Flore (1873). Signed with initials at lower edge.
