NO RESERVE Attributed to Davis Gray. Watercolor on paper depicting a Wilmington, Delaware cityscape with an equestrian monument, church steeple, and modern office towers. This statue was dedicated in 1923 to commemorate Caesar Rodney’s ride to Philadelphia, July 1-2, 1776. Despite ill health, Rodney rode through thunder and rain to cast the deciding vote in the Delaware delegation for independence.Monument is believed to have been commissioned by the Bank of Delaware Signature not found within the current mat; the work has not been examined out of the frame. Framed under glass.
