Summary:

Robert Seabeck (b. 1945). Original gouache on paper painting of a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, signed lower left. Created for the Stamps and Philatelic Center of the Marshall Islands; the image was used for the Republic of the Marshall Islands 60c stamp issued September 1, 1998. Verso bears Wind River Studios/Unicover labels with project details (artist Robert Seabeck, date April 6, 1998; inventory B15996).

Provenance: Collection of James A. Helzer, Founder of Unicover Corporation.

In 1970, the Chevelle Super Sport 454 stood at the top of the muscle-car field. Chevrolet built 53,599 SS models that year, but only 3,733 were equipped with the 454-cid V8. Most carried the 360-hp version; the limited LS6 used a solid-lifter, high-compression tune rated at 450 hp. The SS 454 LS6 is widely regarded as one of the quickest factory muscle cars of its era.

Measurement: Art: 15 x 22 1/2 in. (38.1 x 57.2 cm.) approx
