Summary:

André Lhote was a prominent French Cubist painter, sculptor, and influential art teacher. Born in Bordeaux, he initially trained as a sculptor before turning to painting. By the 1910s, he became associated with the Cubist movement, blending geometric structure with classical composition and a refined sense of color.
Andre Lhote was also a respected writer and educator, founding the Académie André Lhote in Paris, where he taught numerous artists from around the world. His teachings profoundly shaped Modernist art in Europe and beyond. He exhibited widely, including at the Salon d’Automne and Salon des Indépendants, and authored several influential texts on artistic theory.
