United States Civil War General Isaac Ingalls Stevens was a prominent Union Brigadier General, first governor of Washington Territory, and West Point graduate who died leading a charge at the Battle of Chantilly on September 1, 1862. Known for his aggressive leadership, he commanded the 79th New York Infantry. Oil on canvas and sold in estate condition as we found it

(Presents well overall. Surface dirt, could benefit from a cleaning. craquelure throughout with scattered areas of wear, most notably to the lower portions. Frame with minor losses consistent with age and handling.)
