Joseph Popczyk studied architecture at the Lviv Polytechnic before devoting his life to painting. Around 1915, he moved to Paris. Initially working in a Post-Impressionist style, he turned increasingly toward Cubism and abstraction during the 1920s. His work is characterized by strong geometric construction and vibrant color, with subjects including urban nightlife, particularly jazz and club scenes, still lifes, and abstract compositions.
