Summary:
Japanese Meiji period patinated bronze lidded jar attributed to the Murakami workshop, finely decorated with mixed-metal and engraved floral and bird motifs. The domed lid is similarly decorated and surmounted by a pierced finial. The side has a rectangular Japanese seal reportedly reading ‘Dai Nippon Kyoto / Murakami zo, ’ or ‘Great Japan, Kyoto / Made by Murakami.’ Presented on a carved wood display stand. Late 19th century.
