Summary:
Lucio Ranucci (Italian, 1925–2017), geometric composition, 1967, ink and watercolor on paper. Abstract composition constructed from sharply delineated angular and geometric forms in white, gray, black, blue, and warm earth tones. Hand signed and dated ‘Ranucci 1967’ upper left.
Lucio Ranucci was born in 1925 in Perledo, Italy. Following military service in North Africa and his return to Italy in 1945, he worked as a journalist and traveled extensively throughout South America. The culture, social conditions, and people he encountered there became important influences on his artistic career. During the 1950s, Ranucci participated in numerous international exhibitions, including the Biennale Panamericana in Mexico in 1958 and the Biennale de São Paulo. His works are represented in private collections and public galleries throughout Central and South America.
