Summary:
Pierre Ambrogiani (French, 1907–1985), ‘Dockworker, ’ oil on panel painting depicting a muscular dockworker bent forward at work within a colorful harbor or industrial setting.
Ambrogiani was a Marseille-based painter particularly associated with Mediterranean landscapes, harbor scenes, still lifes, and figural subjects. His work is recognized for its vigorous handling and intense, saturated color.
