Summary:
Authorized print after Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973), reproducing ‘Mother with Dead Child (II), ’ a preparatory study for Picasso’s monumental 1937 painting ‘Guernica.’ The composition depicts a grieving mother holding her dead child and is rendered in graphite and colored crayon. The original drawing was created in Paris on 13 May 1937 and is in the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, registration DE00075.
This printing was issued in 1990 as part of a limited edition of 999 reproductions of Picasso’s preparatory studies for ‘Guernica, ’ published by Salerno Editrice S.r.l. and printed by Akademische Druck- u. Verlagsanstalt, Graz, Austria. Reverse with stamps associated with the edition.
