Summary:
Karl Fabergé style early 20th century Russian silver and guilloché enamel circular box. The hinged lid is decorated with white guilloché enamel featuring a radial engine-turned pattern framed by a continuous gilt scrolling wreath. The body is finished in translucent light blue guilloché enamel, while the interior is partially gilt. : This box is marked with the workshop hallmark for the world-renowned Norwegian silversmith, David-Andersen, based in Oslo, Norway.84 / Kokoshnik stamp: In 1900 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris his company won two gold medals. There is the old Russian silver mark signifying "84 zolotniks" (an old Russian purity standard equivalent to 87.5% pure silver) alongside a profile face. Because this piece is higher-grade Norwegian sterling (.925) rather than Russian silver, this specific combination indicates that the item was officially imported into Russia during the early 20th century. To comply with local commerce laws of the time, Russian assay offices would over-stamp or accompany imported foreign silver with their own national tax and purity markers

Stamped 84 and 925, with additional maker’s marks. Weight approximately 57 grams. Provenance: Collection Villa Oppenheimer, Berlin-Grunewald.

This is a NO RESERVE lot. There are no hidden or confidential reserves. All acceptable bidding begins at the published online START PRICE.
