Summary:
Extroadinary Japanese, Meiji period, late 19th to early 20th century. This highly detailed Monumental bronze sculpture is almost four feet in height and depicts an eagle descending onto a naturalistic bronze tree stump, its wings are dramatically outstretched with finely sculpted bronze work and fine feather detailing. The wings are removable for transport and fit into sockets concealed within the shoulders. The eagle itself, can also be removed from the support structure.
Measurement: 44 1/2 x 37 x 20 in. (113 x 94 x 50.8 cm.) approx
