Vyacheslav Kalinin is a Russian artist who moved to the United States in 1991 and was living in Los Angeles in 1995, when this work was made. A follower of the romantic trend of the Moscow school, he depicts the everyday and supernatural life of Muscovite bohemians in symbolic compositions praised by the Moscow intelligentsia of the 1970s.
